From remarkable camouflage and curious encounters to hunting, swimming, and natural behaviour, I've spent years filming giant Pacific octopuses throughout British Columbia's coastal waters. My growing footage library captures these intelligent animals in their natural environment, including rare and unexpected interactions.

I'm Carl Sorensen, the underwater filmmaker and divemaster behind ScubaBC. Based on Vancouver Island, I spend much of my time exploring and documenting the extraordinary marine life found beneath British Columbia's coastal waters.
From giant Pacific octopuses and elusive sixgill sharks to colourful reefs and thriving kelp forests, my goal is to capture the beauty, diversity, and remarkable encounters that make diving in the Pacific Northwest so special.
Through underwater films, photography, and educational content, I hope to bring people closer to an incredible world that often goes unseen.

All footage is captured using high-output underwater lighting from Kraken Sports, including 15,000 and 18,000 lumen Solar Flare lights, along with 25,000 lumen Spectrum systems. This setup allows for accurate colour, clarity, and detail even in the low-light conditions of British Columbia's coastal waters.
